The Vermont Truck and Bus Association Annual Meeting (September 8 -9) is quickly approaching and we are in the final stages of getting details worked out for the meeting. Just a quick recap of the details of the meeting, it is being held at the Von Trapp Lodge in Stowe. On Friday evening, we have a reception from 6:00 – 7:30, currently it is going to be held in the Sunroom. We will be recognizing two outstanding drivers (Master Truck Driver – Danny Loucks -G W Tatro Construction and Vermont Truck and Bus Association Driver of the Year – Chris Goddard, Fed Ex Express).
On Saturday morning, our invited guest speaker is David Manning, ATA First Vice Chairman, next Ture Nelson, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Colonel William “Jake” Elovirta, VT DMV followed by Bill Smith, VTBA lobbyist. Our last speakers will be reviewing the current Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) rules and present their solution, Corey Fongemie, Matt Deloge and Jim Hawthorne representing GPS Fleet Consulting will be presenting.

At this year’s Fifth Annual Wreaths Across America Gala, participate in a living tribute to a fallen soldier. With a $250 donation, attendees will receive a commemorative dog tag as well as one printed in memory of a fallen loved one who has served. The loved ones name will be read aloud at the Gala. On March 15, 2017 (Wednesday) – Vermont Truck & Bus Association will be holding its quarterly meeting at the Steak House, 1239 US Route 302, Barre, VT, at 10:00. The Board Meeting will be held from 10:00 am to Noon, followed by a Legislative Luncheon from Noon to 1:30. Commissioner Robert Ide and Director Elovirta have been invited to speak about OS/OW permits and current rules on movements during inclement weather. Bill Smith will facilitate the discussion. We have also asked Ture Nelson, FMCSA for an update on new rules.
Please consider attending this meeting, we would like a good turnout so that the legislators will see we have a strong interest in what happens to our industry in Montpelier. We would appreciate it if you could respond if you can make the meeting. Coffee and pastries/donuts will be served along with a buffet lunch following the meeting. Indicate if you are able to stay for lunch so that we may provide accurate numbers for the restaurant.
On December 14, 2016 Governor Elect Phil Scott joined the Winter Quarterly meeting of the VTBA at the Steak House in Barre VT. Gov Elect Scott addressed the group to discuss future plans for businesses in Vermont and his vision going forward regarding bettering the lives of Vermonters, his thoughts on lowering costs to business owners and promoting Vermont as a place to live and do business.
